It’s heartbreaking to see Ecuador, once so stable, being torn apart by drug violence—this is exactly why we need stronger institutions and real investment in social programs, not just more crackdowns. When the government only responds with force, it ends up fueling more chaos and fear, instead of addressing the root causes like poverty and lack of opportunity. If we really want to stop this cycle, we have to support community development and regional cooperation, not just militarization.

Just goes to show that government crackdowns and the war on drugs only end up making things more dangerous for regular people, instead of actually solving the problem.

This is what happens when borders are weak and governments go soft on crime—Ecuador needs to crack down hard and put its own citizens first before the whole country spirals out of control.
