Just another tragic reminder that government crackdowns and the war on drugs always end up making things worse for innocent people instead of actually solving the problem.

It’s heartbreaking to see innocent people caught in the crossfire, and it really shows how Ecuador needs balanced policies that strengthen security without ignoring the root causes of this violence.

This is exactly why we need a stronger hand from the government and tougher law enforcement. These criminals don’t care about innocent lives or the future of the country—they only understand force. If the authorities had real power to crack down, maybe these gangs would think twice before terrorizing people. Emergency declarations are a start, but what we really need is a permanent show of strength: stricter laws, harsher sentences, and the military on the streets if necessary. It’s time to stop worrying about the rights of criminals and focus on protecting decent citizens. If we don’t get serious, Ecuador will keep losing control to these thugs.
